    Description

Allariz is a beautiful villa, a model of restoration and recovery of its old town. The natural and fluvial environment blends in harmony with the monumental heritage, giving rise to a historical-artistic complex full of resources. Local products, handicrafts, Outlets shops, local gastronomy and numerous activities, complete the tourist-cultural offer of the town.
Sitting on the banks of the Arnoia River, Allariz is linked to Alfonso X the Wise, for having been the monarch’s place of education for part of his childhood. The history of the town will lead us to talk about the Swabians, the pilgrims, the Jews, the ethnography or the local activities and events that make up the identity of the place.
At present, Allariz is a landmark in Galicia’s tourism, the excellent recovery of the historic complex was awarded the Europa Nostra Award. The squares and streets lead the visitor to enter an environment with a clear medieval configuration, in which you can discover beautiful churches such as Santa María de Vilanova or Santiago de Allariz, but also the imposing Convent of Santa Clara or the wall and beautiful bridge on the river Arnoia. The many museums are surprising, among all we highlight the Leather Museum, located in an old tanning factory and the small Santa Clara museum, which houses two sublime pieces of Iberian art from the XIII Century which are the Rock Crystal Cross and the Virgin “abrideira” of Allariz.
