    Description

It is the so-called Olive City of Galicia. Vigo is great, beautiful, and this was understood by all the peoples, writers, pirates and merchants who passed through those lands, leaving the mark of their presence.
Today Vigo is modern, it is the city that has grown the most in the 20th century in all of Europe due to the great industrialization that took place there. From that time we can still see canneries, shipyards, etc. But we can also observe its modern museums, squares and its incomparable beaches… this is how Jules Vernes, the French writer, understood it, who decided to portray it with one of his most famous characters: Captain Nemo, from “200,000 leagues under the sea”. Vigo is all flavors of the sea, its seafood taverns, its stone market, where you can taste fresh oysters, accompanied by a good Albariño wine.
The Vigo estuary is one of the most beautiful in Galicia, it is closed by the already world-known Cíes Islands, part of the Illas Atlánticas National Park. Discover its stories, fishing villages and monuments, relive in its estuary one of the most outstanding battles of our coasts: the battle of Rante!
