Description
This is an area of Galicia where we will find a large concentration of megalithic monuments, Roman ways such as the Vía Nova, pre-Romanesque monuments over 1000 years old, villas of poets or towns of the bustling “entroido” or carnival.
You will be amazed and passionate about the exuberant nature of the International Natural Park: O Xurés – O Gêres, the past grandeur of the Antela lagoon and the ethnographic culture born of proximity to Portugal.
This area of Galicia is rich in traditions, gastronomy and nature, but also in monuments and villas such as Celanova or Vilanova dos Infantes.
Among the religious monuments we highlight the Visigothic church of Santa Comba de Bande from the 7th century, the Mozarabic chapel of San Miguel de Celanova, the baroque church of Santa María la Real de Entrimo, the imposing monastery of San Salvador de Celanova (Monastery of San Rosendo), the Trandeiras monastery and the great Romanesque heritage of the area among many others.
Limiting Portugal, the area has a large number of towers and the remains of defensive fortresses that are added to the monumental heritage of the area. In these lands there are remote and genuine places, unknown on the border with our neighbor Portugal, which have been the spaces of the smuggling of products on the Galician-Portuguese border. Go ahead and discover them with us.
This is an area to feel, savor and enjoy the native nature, the villages, the landscape and the monuments along the “dry raia”.
